The Ranee (poem)

by Wanda Waterman

wandaprofilepicgainsborough

That fine lady who rides in the satin sedan chair

Thinks that her riches and her gentility

Can buy beauty for her daughters.

But alas!

The rajah she wedded

Has an ugly face

And her children have suffered the same fate.
