Door Zero

This is only hearsay as I can no longer lay my hands on the book (or even its title), written by a nomadic American Indian, wherein I read that the Mayan concept of zero represented a door between the material and spiritual realities, the portal, if you will, through which all things emerge in their material forms.

This is a precious concept. It speaks to our dread of nothingness, which in this view is really a door to the kingdom of heaven. It means that depression, emptiness, loss, want, and even creative blocks are good things, as they signify the existence of something infinitely better— if we could just brave the “nothing” and move through it.

Be thankful when you bump up against The Void; it’s abundant life disguised as a closed door. Open it, and be blessed.
