Walking from Little Italy toward the Park Avenue metro I was soon joined by dozens of walkers and drivers.

I heard a small boy, brandishing his own tiny sign, say proudly, “I’m protesting for peace!”

His mother replied tenderly, “Yes, you’re protesting for peace.”

I asked her what his sign said, and she replied, “It says, ‘Je suis Musulman.'”

And so he was. And so are all who strive for peace.
